Back Getting Better

Grandma Hash taught Isabelle that being carried around is really fun. Now she wants me to carry her everywhere and my back has been out. I mean, really, pain-shooting-down-my-leg awful back stuff. And it's taken me a year to convince my doctor to order an MRI. I've been wandering around in a pain-haze for over a week, and am just now beginning to feel a little better. But, I'm still not up to carrying a 10 month old baby around.

I don't have a back that is as bad as yours (just half as bad), but completely understand your "pain". Every time my mom is around for even a day, I end up with a baby that resists being put down for even a minute. Give it a couple of days and she'll be back to being a little more independent.

Glad you're feeling a little better and hoping you are completely better soon. Pop a vicatin (is that how you spell that?) and I'll bring you a Bloody Mary! :)

I have a problem with my back too. It is caused by desiccated disk. It makes my hip and upper leg hurt if I lift, bend or turn in some careless way. My drug of choice used to be Diclofenac. But when I was pregnant and did not want to take any drugs I discovered another way. I hang onto the bar with my hands when I go for walk to the playground with Sonia. The idea is to stretch and realign the spine under the weight of my lower body. I try to keep my body straight (except lover legs which I have to bend up) and relax my upper body as much as I can. It is unpleasant for my hands so I bought special weightlifting gloves/hooks with straps for the wrists. I can’t do it for a long time so I do it several times. The pain does not go away immediately because the pinched nerves need time to recover, but it usually goes away within a day or two.
I hope this helps.
